Her name is Annie Wilkes and she is more than a rabid reader - she is Paul's nurse, tending his shattered body after an automobile accident. But she is also his captor, keeping him prisoner in her isolated house.

Now Annie wants Paul to write his greatest work - just for her. She has a lot of ways to spur him on. One is a needle. Another is an ax. And if they don't work, she can get really nasty."

Review:I haven't re-read this King classic in a few years, but after seeing my niece watch it on TV, I decided it was time to re-enter Annie Wilkes' world, where nightmares come true on a daily basis.

Paul Sheldon has the ultimate misfortune to run his car off an isolated road and wreck his body in the process. Fortunately, he is rescued by a trained nurse, who lugs him home in the midst of a winter storm and begins to nurse him back to health. Coincidentally, his new nurse is also his biggest fan. He will wish she'd never heard his name...

Stephen King takes the reader inside of a world where true madness and evil exists. I try to convince myself with every reading of this novel that it's only fiction, but then I'm reminded of true evil present in the world around us just by listening to the daily news. So perhaps the lesson of this novel is to believe in the resilience of good people, over the ones who can absolutely wreck their worlds. If you somehow have missed this work, grab it now!
